Let's think about this for a minute, when was the last time you ran out to your mailbox excited to read all the junk mail you receive? Have you EVER clicked a banner ad? Chances are you never read promotional emails. Let's be real, most of the content you watch on your TV is from a streaming network, and if an ad is shown at all, do you watch it? I highly doubt it. Instead, you pick up your phone and look at, that's right, Instagram or maybe Facebook. What is the one way advertisers can reach you pretty much at all hours of the day no matter where you are at? On your phone via social networks.

Not only is Instagram and Facebook the best place to actually be seen, but you can target your marketing to a ridiculously detailed level! You can target different demographics, locations, and even different behaviors. Being able to target your marketing to a specific audience can save you from wasting money on ads that are shown to people who have no interest in your message, and instead place them in front of people who will actually notice your content. In addition to Facebook and Instagram both being super effective places to share, they are also relatively super cheap. Your ad budget will go much further.

Now, what does this have to do with video? The best way to market on Facebook and Instagram is by first creating one long-form piece of video content, something that lasts 3-60 minutes. You launch that piece of content on platforms like YouTube, IGTV, or your website. You then cut that long-form piece of content into smaller pieces lasting 10-60 seconds and post it on Facebook or Instagram. After that, you test multiple pieces of that content as ads to find out which ones are performing the best. These 10-60 second eye-grabbing videos are the lure to the fishing hook. They capture people's attention, bringing them to your website or long-form video content. Remember you can't just throw a hook in the water and expect a fish to bite it. You need to cast a fly or place a lure, which is best in the waters of Instagram and Facebook!!
